Zirconium alloy
zirconium alloys have good corrosion resistance, moderate mechanical properties, low atomic thermal neutron absorption cross-section (zirconium is 0.18 target en) in high temperature and high pressure water and steam ℃300~400. thus, they can be used as core structure materials (fuel cladding, pressure tube, support and pore tube) for water cooled nuclear reactors, which is the main use of zirconium alloys. Zirconium has excellent resistance to many kinds of acids (such as hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, sulfuric acid and acetic acid), alkali and salt, so zirconium alloys are also used to make corrosion resistant components and pharmaceutical devices. Zirconium has a strong affinity for gases such as oxygen and nitrogen, so zirconium and zirconium alloys are also widely used as non-dispersive degassing agents in the electric vacuum and bulb industries. Zirconium has excellent luminous properties, so it becomes a flash and fireworks material.
Zirconium alloys are of general industrial grade (Zr-1,Zr-3,Zr-5) and nuclear industrial grade [Zr-0(Zr01), Zr-2(ZrSn 1.4~0.1) and Zr-4(ZrSn 1.4(0.2)].
