Flange Type Butterfly Valve

Flange connection butterfly valve, as a fluid control equipment, is widely used in chemical, petroleum, metallurgy, electric power, pharmaceutical, food and other fields. This type of valve is mainly composed of five parts: valve body, valve plate, valve stem, valve seat and flange, and realizes the opening and closing of the fluid by rotating the valve plate up and down, which has the advantages of easy operation, durable corrosion resistance, and good sealing. The most important of these is the flange connection, which is the key to the functioning of this valve.

The flange of the flange connecting the butterfly valve is usually divided into two types: flat flange and convex flange. Flat flanges are more common, the thickness of the flange is generally 18-20mm, and a flat washer is used, which needs to be fastened by a locking device when connected, and an effective sealing effect is achieved through the compression washer. There is a convex flange on the flange of the convex flange, the thickness of the flange is relatively thin, the convex washer is used, the flange and the convex washer need to be compacted when connecting, so that the convex washer produces a high sealing stress on the convex flange, and the more commonly used convex washer has 4 kinds such as V-type, Y-type, U-shaped and quadruple;

There is also a flange connection butterfly valve called flanged butterfly valve, which also adopts flange connection method. Flanged butterfly valves are characterized by the fact that as the diameter of the valve increases, so does its size. All valves with a diameter of DN600 or more shall be processed and produced in strict accordance with the flange design standards. Because this type of valve is connected to the flange, it is not only directly sleeved on the flange through the butterfly plate, but also needs to be equipped with a butterfly valve flange sealing gasket, so the sealing is better, the connection is more firm, and it is suitable for some working conditions where the pressure in the pipeline is unstable and the medium flow speed is fast.

In general, flanged butterfly valves have the following characteristics:

First, the connection is firm, the sealing is reliable, and the symmetrical compression flange connection is adopted, which is simple to operate and convenient to maintain;

Second, it has a wide range of applications, which can be used for flow control of liquid and gaseous media, and the material of the valve is also suitable for the flow of various media;

Thirdly, it has a certain ability to adjust the flow rate, and can control the flow rate of the medium by adjusting the opening of the valve as needed;

Fourth, the operation is stable, the patency is good, the valve opens and closes quickly, and there will be no stagnation, which is also one of the reasons why the flange connection butterfly valve is widely used.
